YDHS Friday Talk September 2022

Peter Lucas—The History of Light Railway in South Australia

Yankalilla Uniting Church Hall

Peter Lucas’s presentation was both informative and entertaining, as he took those attending on a journey describing early forms of transportation from horsepower to electric. He included some very inventive and hilarious home made versions which clearly showed the innovative spirit of pioneers. Uses of light rail included for amusement, quarrying, and wineries. Peter showed many wonderful images from around the State and included many examples from the Yankalilla region, including Normanville, Rapid Bay and Second Valley.

Yankalilla & District Historical Society supports the cultural, spiritual, ecological and economic regeneration of the Aboriginal peoples of this place assisted by the actions and power of individuals, organisations and governments.
