YDHS Friday Talk July 2022

Rob Kirk—Dr John Woodforde and six parrot puddings

Yankalilla Uniting Church Hall

Rob Kirk, in character as his great-great-great-grandfather Dr John Woodforde, one of Adelaide's earliest medical officers, presented a fascinating account of the first 30 years of life in the colony of South Australia. The presentation gave a lively sense of what everyday life must have been like for early pioneers and was brought to life by many fine images by early South Australian artists. Many of those attending took the opportunity to purchase a signed copy of Rob’s book 'Dr John Woodforde and six parrot puddings', which is available at the Fleurieu Coast Information Centre, through Freestyle Publications www.freestylepublications.com.au. or search for the title on Ebay

Yankalilla & District Historical Society supports the cultural, spiritual, ecological and economic regeneration of the Aboriginal peoples of this place assisted by the actions and power of individuals, organisations and governments.
